Career
I feel I have picked the perfect applied study which meet my personality, work goals and is fun. I am a people person and likes the challenge of not knowing what is going to happen on a daily bases. Although this might sound too perfect, I feel my personal life would not allow me to correctly fit into this position. As most mothers would feel, their children come first and working as associate with Employees’ Club will take up many evening, weekends and traveling. I love being a part of an organization which helps others by boosting their moral but I feel little torn in between my professional career and my responsibilities at home.
Although I work for sister company of Honeywell, I feel comfortable in my current position. It allows me to work off site and telecommute from home. I believe it is a perfect position for a young mother and college student.
My future goals is to work with a non-profit or large organization assisting in creating and running events for children, disabled or senior citizens. I want to bring a smile to someone’s face by celebrating someone who is normally set aside by society. My applied study is giving me the experience needed to complete my goals. I am meeting new people, mangers and when I’m ready to expand or move within the company I will have contacts. I’m also learning how the corporate world works.
I would be interested working in educational settings. I did consider becoming an elementary teacher when I first started Arizona State University but I found Organizational Studies fit me better as a major.

Theories and Concepts
The four theories or concepts which I have learned through the context of the college coursework are Method, Grand Theory, Organizational Theory and Narrow Ranged Theory.
Method concerns how one conducts research, analysis data or evidence, test theories and creates new knowledge. This concept could be related to hypothesis, as a researcher may have the idea that all college seniors have credit problems. The researcher could use a method of collecting date on college senior’s credit scores and his results will determine if his hypothesis is correct. In applying Method to my applied study at Honeywell Employee’s Club, I could do an analysis of which month of the year does the most Disneyland Tickets are being sold and which months are the slowest ticket sales.
Grand Theory is a general analysis that attempts to explore and explanation interrelationships between phenomena that extent beyond the borders of two or more disciplines. This theory brings two different ideas into one, as why does women receive lower wages than their male peers. This idea has an economical and feminism discipline concept. In applying Grand Theory to my applied study I could attempt to explain the low number women golfers who participate in tournaments.
Organizational Theory is the systematic study and careful application of knowledge about how people - as individuals and as groups - act within organizations. This theory is the base of my major, Organizational Studies. An example in applying Organizational Theory in my applied studies is how productive is different ethnicities working together on Hometown Solution Project (community service) with disabled veterans.
Narrow Range Theory is designed to account for relative small number of phenomena or produce insight into specific problem. This theory researches the insight of the number of low test scores during Greek Week. as studying is being deferred for social commitments. An example in applying Narrow Range Theory in my applied study, I would research the number of employees who have made complaints about Phoenix Club House Store in lieu of poor store hours, being once a week for three hours.

Week 2
Honeywell Aerospace is a large organization which has a huge impact in our lives. They create parts for commercial airplanes, military equipment and home temperature gages. Their work has an interdisciplinary effect in bring knowledge of different fields to solve a problem. In working with Employees’ club there are many different events, merchandise selling and vendors’ production which can occur. In helping signing up fellow employees’ for upcoming golf tournament at ASU, I learned the process of planning the event, advertising and registering golfers. This allowed me to be confident in my work in learning how follow the proper procedures to ensure the event is a success. Thus for the next event, I can hope to have feeling “I know what to do or expect”. As not all things run the same, Honeywell’s plethora of functions I will be certain I can get the job done.

Intro
Hello, my name is Josie Morgan. I am a senior at ASU majoring in Organizational Studies, hoping and praying I graduate in December 2010. I have chosen my major, Organizational Studies due to its unique features of combining business, human resources and managerial skills in to one concentration. As I am a people person, I love to work in group setting solving problems or organizing events to improve the moral of employees or public. With the several years I spend in the military, I believe I hold a strong sense of leading others into doing great things.
I am currently completing my internship at Honeywell Aerospace, Employees’ Club. The Employees’ club organizes and plans corporate events, community service projects and provides their employees’ with discounted priced tickets for sporting events, water parks and amusement parks. During my first week of being part of the employees’ club team, I assisted in signing up golfers for an upcoming golf tournament at ASU Karsten Golf Course. I also supported the club house in Phoenix and Tempe stores in selling Honeywell merchandise. My responsibilities shadow which I have been studying in working within a large organization trying to make it better while thinking outside of the box.
After graduation, I anticipate to gain a position as a regular employee at Honeywell. I hope to expand my knowledge which I have gained through study into workforce. I want to enrich my life with work which makes a difference in people’s lives. As Honeywell is major competitor in transportation, military and home furnishing, I want to feel I helped made someone life simpler or safer.
The next two months should be an exciting and challenging but up to the challenge.
